Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started?

Start by reviewing our therapists and choosing the clinician you would like to work with. From there, you can follow that therapist’s available scheduling options.

Some clinicians may begin with a brief consultation, while others may allow you to request a first appointment directly.

Do all therapists at Our Shared Path accept the same insurance?

No. Insurance participation varies by clinician.

Our Shared Path works with several insurance plans and employer-sponsored behavioral health programs, including:

  • Independence Blue Cross / Keystone Health Plan East

  • Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield

  • Aetna

  • Cigna

  • UnitedHealthcare / Optum

  • Geisinger

  • Spring Health

  • Lyra Health

Please review your therapist’s accepted plans when scheduling or contact us if you have questions about coverage.

What are your private-pay rates?

Our standard private-pay rates are:

Individual Therapy: $150 per 50-minute sessionCouples Therapy: $250 per 90-minute session

Other services, including couples therapy intensives and premarital counseling packages, may have separate rates.

Can insurance cover couples therapy?

Sometimes.

Insurance coverage for couples or relationship therapy depends on your plan and the reason for treatment. In some situations, couples sessions may be covered when treatment is medically necessary and billed through one partner’s behavioral health benefit.

Couples therapy intensives and certain relationship services are private pay.

Do you offer in-person and telehealth therapy?

Yes. Our clinicians may offer telehealth, in-person therapy, or a combination of both.

Availability varies by therapist, service, and location.

Do you work with children and adolescents?

Some of our clinicians may work with children and adolescents.

Because each therapist serves different populations and has different areas of focus, we recommend reviewing individual therapist profiles to learn more about who they work with.

Do you offer faith-based counseling?

Yes.

When faith is important to a client, therapy can thoughtfully integrate their religious beliefs, values, and spiritual framework into the therapeutic process. We approach each client’s faith with respect while remaining grounded in professional ethics, clinical standards, and evidence-based practices.

Faith integration is guided by the client’s needs, values, and preferences.

What happens after I request an appointment?

Your request will be reviewed by the therapist or practice team.

Depending on the clinician, you may be asked to complete a consultation or receive intake paperwork before your first therapy session is scheduled or confirmed.

Do I have to complete paperwork before my first therapy session?

Yes.

Required intake paperwork must be completed before your first therapy session. These forms help your therapist understand important background information, review practice policies, and prepare appropriately for your care.

Please complete requested paperwork as soon as possible after receiving it to avoid delays in beginning services.

How do I choose a therapist?

Each clinician at Our Shared Path brings their own style, experience, areas of focus, populations served, and insurance participation.

We encourage you to review our therapist profiles and choose the clinician whose approach seems to best fit what you are looking for.

What is a couples therapy intensive?

Couples therapy intensives are extended sessions that provide more concentrated time than a standard weekly appointment.

They may be helpful for couples who want focused time to address recurring conflict, trust concerns, communication difficulties, major transitions, or other significant relationship challenges.

Visit our Couples Therapy Intensives page to learn more.

What is your cancellation policy?

Appointments must be canceled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance.

Late cancellations and missed appointments may be subject to a $75 fee. Insurance does not cover cancellation or no-show fees.

Can I use an HSA or FSA card?

Yes. HSA and FSA cards may be used for eligible services.
